“HBCA continues fundraising efforts for local families”

Plans are in the works for the Halfmoon Bay Community Association’s first Community Initiatives Program (CIP) campaign of 2022. Association spokesperson Linda McMahon told Coast Reporter it will involve a silent auction benefiting, in part, the Sunshine Coast Community Service Society’s “Building Together” project. Further details will be provided once the campaign logistics are finalized.

The association board formalized its fundraising activities by establishing its CIP in 2021. “Our first campaign under the CIP banner, Help for Families 2021, was an overwhelming success. Not only do we now have the means to provide desperately needed money to the Community School for its food and clothing program throughout the year but, due to exceeding our target of $10,000 for the school, we also have monies to fund other worthy causes,” said McMahon.

“One focus of our giving is emerging. It has become very apparent that the cost, and availability, of food is causing great hardship to some members of this community. Therefore, one of the fundamental components of the CIP will be addressing food security for families in need. We will be putting our heads together to determine the best means of addressing this important issue and getting funds to those that need it most.

“As well, we will be reaching out to other non-profit organizations who serve the Halfmoon Bay community to see how we can provide much needed financial support through the funds raised under the CIP.”

Groups and individuals are invited to reach out to the Association at hmbcommunications2021@gmail.com if they have causes that could benefit from CIP support.
