Neighbours Helping Neighbours – FINAL RESULTS!

The Halfmoon Bay Community Association (HBCA) Neighbours Helping Neighbours fundraiser is part of the HBCA’s Community Initiatives Program

YOU DID IT!  Thanks to incredibly generous donations from several businesses, as well as donations of all sizes from approximately 60 community members, the $12,000 target was surprassed!  A total of $15,100 was raised.  THANK YOU ALL!

This year has been challenging for some in our community and the holiday season can be especially hard.  This fundraiser enables the Halfmoon Bay Elementary School to provide a daily breakfast program, Grab & Go lunches and snacks, boxes for youth and hampers for families. This year, the outreach was extended beyond the families of the school, to any community member that finds themselves in need of some extra help and cheer during the holiday season.  Through donations received to date, hard-working elves were able to send out 5 $300 Holiday Hampers to those nominated by their neighbours.  Wendy White told us that “one resident donated a hand-made quilt for each hamper!  Others donated brand-new board games, puzzles and books. Volunteers spent hours wrapping gifts.  These hampers are packed with love from the community – so heartwarming.  We live in an amazing community!”  YES WE DO, WENDY!

Given this extended outreach, we hope you will help us raise $12,000! You can find fundraiser information and ways to donate on our Fundraising/Donate page.  As well, if you’re driving by one of the roadside signs, a scan of the QR code will bring you directly to the website’s Fundraising page.  Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to find our online donation form. A GoFundMe has been set up on the Halfmoon Bay BC Everything Facebook page.

Last year, the target of $10,000 was exceeded significantly; this enabled the HBCA to not only provide funds to the school, but to also sponsor other organizations who provide care and services to Halfmoon Bay residents.  We are presently just slightly over this years $12,000 target, as of December 21st; so we are continuing to ask residents to give as much as they can so we can assist those in need throughout 2023.

Once you have made your donation, please help spread the word to your personal contacts (family, friends, neighbours, businesses).  Together we can make an even bigger impact! (As a number of us are reaching out to our personal networks, we apologize if you receive the request more than once.)

 YOUR COMMUNITY THANKS YOU!

(The HBCA is not a registered charity. If you would like a charitable tax receipt for your donation over $50, please donate by cheque, payable to SD 46, indicating in the memo line “HBCA Neighbours Helping Neighbours” and deliver it to one of the HBCA Board members.  All cheques will then be delivered to SD 46 and they will send you a charitable tax receipt.  Please contact us at info@halfmoon-bay.ca to make arrangements for cheque pick-up/delivery.)
