REGIONAL PARK Coopers Green

Coopers Green Park SCRD Enhancement Project – Update

The Sunshine Coast Regional District plans to conduct Community engagement on this project in three phases:

  • Phase 1 – Fall / Winter 2024 A questionnaire will be launched in the community. This questionnaire will determine what the community would like to see in the park and will help inform phase 2 of engagement.
  • Phase 2 – Winter 2024 / Early 2025 Following community feedback on the park through a questionnaire, SCRD staff and the landscape architect for the project will bring forward some themes of what enhancements could look like for the park. This phase will include an in-person opportunity for community feedback.
  • Phase 3 – Winter / Spring 2025 Phase 3 will see the final concept and design for the park provided on the Lets Talk Page for the project.

Engagement Update

Earlier this year, the SCRD hosted an open house and online survey to gather community feedback on proposed enhancements to Coopers Green Park. The engagement confirmed strong community support for several improvements, with washrooms emerging as the top priority. As noted in the survey themes on page 7, β€œWashroom is the highest priority.”

The results clearly reinforce the need for separate, modern park washrooms, addressing long-standing concerns about maintenance, accessibility, and seasonal usability. With this feedback in hand, the SCRD has confirmed that construction of the new washroom facilities is planned to begin before year end.

This important upgrade reflects what residents consistently emphasized throughout the engagement process: practical, high-use amenities that keep Coopers Green a safe, welcoming, and functional waterfront park for the whole community.
