Coopers Green Hall Update April 2025

We’re pleased to share that progress continues toward an agreement with the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) for the HBCA to take on day-to-day operations of Coopers Green Hall. Since submitting our proposed terms late last year, we’ve been working steadily with SCRD staff to build a plan that works for both sides. Our shared goal is to finalize the agreement by June and officially begin operating the hall in September.

Earlier this month, members of our Hall Committee met with SCRD to go over the first draft of the agreement, known as a “License to Occupy.” The meeting was productive, and the draft is now under legal review on their end. Once we receive the updated version, we’ll move forward with our own legal review, followed by review and approval by the HBCA Board and membership.

In the meantime, we’ve been developing a plan for upgrades and improvements to the hall. Many of these ideas came from last year’s community survey, which brought in nearly 100 responses. Our goal is to begin this work in September and carry it through next spring. Planned updates include expanding the kitchen, replacing the sheds, improving acoustics, lighting, and flooring in the main hall, repairing siding, and adjusting washroom access.

To make all of this happen, we’ll need support from the community. If you can contribute time, skills, or materials, we’d love to hear from you.
