55th Halfmoon Bay Fair – Sunday, July 16th

ITS BACK!  The 55th Halfmoon Bay Fair is coming to Coopers Green Park on SUNDAY, JULY 16TH!   Thanks to our Signature Sponsor, 91.7 Coast FM, for providing season-long media promotion for our 2023 Calendar of Events.

There’s a full day of activity for the entire family!  Take the Shuttle Bus, sponsored by Saxon Contracting, bring along your blankets, chairs, water and sunscreen, and leave the driving to us! The bus route map is here. Two busses will be available, one running from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the other from noon until 8:30 p.m., thus ensuring two are available at the peak hours.  If you do drive to the venue, there’s lots of parking at the Fire Hall  at the side of the station (don’t block the trucks!) and also in their gated yard (it’ll be cleaned up to prevent any mishaps).

9:00 a.m. – Welcome back to the Fair!  The traditional Pancake Breakfast is once again brought to you by the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary.  Make sure to thank these hard-working volunteers for everything they do for communities on the Sunshine Coast!

At noon, our MC Keith VanBrabant (known to many as Keith on the Coast) will welcome fair-goers, make announcements, and introduce the entertainment on the Main Stage , sponsored by Wright CPA:

  • 11:00-12:00 p.m. The Wildflowers (eclectic blend of folk, jazz, blues, and bluegrass)
  • 12:15-12:45 p.m. Story Theatre Pop-up Troupe [Driftwood Players]
  • 1:00-2:00 p.m. Community Jam (everyone welcome!)
  • 2:15-3:45 p.m. Charlie and Alick (Troup, of Halfmoon Bay – has played with many great musicians here on the Coast)
  • 4:15-6:00 p.m. – Sofa Kings
  • 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Michelle Morand (catch her and friends jamming Wednesday nights in Roberts Creek) & Bad Tonz

For those of you who didn’t grab some pancakes, or are ready for more great food, commencing at noon, head over to the Food Court:

Our Libations Lounge, sponsored by Sunshine Coast Pest Control and Batch 44, will be serving up adult beverages from Batch 44, The Bricker Cider Co., and Bruinwood Estate Distillery

Want to walk off all that food and drink?  The 35+ vendor Marketplace, sponsored by Sunshine Coast Community  Forest, will be brimming with locally-crafted products.  Several organizations will share information about their programs and services.  The dogs from the St. John’s Ambulance Pet Therapy Program are coming back and HYPR Canada will be giving paddle board demonstrations at the beach!

As well, in the Hall, you’ll find Fire Chief Ryan Daley – he’s going to tell the community about the fire department, the direction its going and the support that will be needed from the community. He’ll have maps and statistics on call volumes, etc.  Dan and Cheryl will be hosting family-friendly Bingo from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. over by the Marketplace.

The Fun Zone, sponsored by Saxon Contracting, will give the kiddos a chance to burn off all that ice cream!  Watch out for the parade and skits by the Story Theatre Pop-Up Troupe; climb aboard the fire truck; say hi to Nutty Big Pants and Craig the Magician; and join in the other activities being planned.

We want to give special thanks to our Season Sponsors Sechelt Fish Market and South Coast Ford, and our in-kind sponsors (Fractal Design Inc., Sechelt Sign and Printing, and Rental Equip), as well as all our other sponsors, vendors, and volunteers.  And last but not least, we gratefully acknowledge the financial support provided by the province of British Columbia.
