Wendy White, Halfmoon Bay Community School coordinator shared some information regarding Halloween. “So much has changed as we navigate through different seasons in the face of COVID-19. A group of dedicated HMB community members got together to discuss what Halloween could look like this year.”
The Lohn/Hart Trail in Welcome Woods is a great spot for some physically distanced, outside fun with your family. Community residents are encouraged to carve a pumpkin, add a tea light and place it on the trail any time before 4:00pm on Halloween day. Wendy says, “Let’s come together as a community and light it up brighter than ever! For this, we need everyone’s help!”
Volunteers will light or turn on the tea lights just before 4:30pm. Carved pumpkins can also be dropped off at the school before October 31, 2020. Please contact Wendy to make arrangements, call 604 551-8461 or email wwhite@sd46.bc.ca.
When using the trail, please be kind and stay to the right to avoid contact with other families. The community encourages those wanting to trick-or-treat to stay with their immediate family and to have only one family approach the house at a time. It is suggested to start at 4:30pm and finish by 7:30pm. Some neighbours may not be comfortable with trick-or-treaters coming to their door, so it is suggested to not turn on your outside lights during this time. If giving out candy, be sure to remain as safe as possible by using tongs to give out treats and be outside.
Organized by the HMB Elementary School and local residents, there were over 50 pumpkins placed along the trail and visited by some very excited and grateful families.
